Default apt-file update gives 404

Is it just me or the command:
sudo apt-file update
bombs out?

I get a 404 on every request

And as an aside - anyone know which .deb provides /etc/samba/smb.conf?
I hosed mine after the upgrade to Hardy and want to start over

Should it be: sudo apt-get update ?
That's the only command I've seen used.

Nah - apt-file is similar to the "whatprovides" option in yum - it
will allow you to search for any packages that provide a certain file.
